For Virginia House of Delegates, District 42
Kathy Tran is another freshman delegate, representing the 42nd District of Virginia in the Northern part of the state in Richmond. A first time candidate who came out of nowhere to win a tight primary race, Kathy Tran has an amazing personal story of coming to the U.S. as a refugee and the poise and presence of a veteran campaigner. A committed fighter for working families, Kathy spent over a decade in leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Labor and later joined the National Immigration Forum, where she advocated for policies that prepared immigrants in the workforce to reach their full career potential.
In addition, she is a devoted mother of 4 who is also the President of her local PTA. Kathy was widely seen as one of the most talented candidates running in 2017, and we were ecstatic to support her in her first -- and successful - run for public office as she became the first Asian-American woman elected to the legislature.
