For Candidate for Austin Community College Board of Trustees, Place 9
We're excited to endorse Julie Ann Nitsch for Austin Community College Board of Trustees, a board that oversees one of the largest community college systems in the country -- serving ~70,000 students on over a dozen campuses across a five-county area. Julie is a first-term incumbent who won her seat on the board in a special election in 2016. A longtime resident, advocate, and community leader, being engaged in her community is second nature to Julie, and over the past decade she has founded a small arts and community center in South Austin, volunteered at a local nursing home and for organizations including the League of Women Voters and Keep Austin Beautiful, and been a staunch advocate for rape survivors. She also has already has shown herself to be an effective Board member in just her first two years, expanding the child-care voucher program, negotiating free bus passes for every Austin Community College student, and raising the minimum wage for ACC employees. We're thrilled to support Julie's re-election to ensure she can continue to be a strong, progressive voice on the ACC Board.
