For Pennsylvania House District 165
Jennifer O'Mara's life experience has shown her the important role government can play in people's lives. Her life was upended when her father tragically died by suicide, but thanks to union benefits and student loans, Jenn's family stayed afloat and she persevered, becoming a student leader in high school and the first in her family to go to college (while working three jobs to support herself), earning her certificate in teaching. Along with her husband -- a veteran of two tours in Afghanistan with two Purple Hearts, who she has helped navigate the Veterans Affairs' benefits system -- she continues to see every day how government can be a force for good. She has worked hard to give back, being active in her community and serving as a mentor to the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils she helped lead when she was in high school. Now, Jenn wants to bring her background and experience -- and the passion they have engendered in her -- to the statehouse. While she is squaring off against a Republican incumbent, her district was one that Hillary won in 2016, and we are thrilled to help Jenn bring her background, perspective, and energy to the statehouse.
