For Texas House District 45
A new mother who gave birth this summer, Erin Zwiener is the picture of determination and dedication. A teacher, activist, and 5th generation Texan, she emerged from a contested primary this spring as the Democratic nominee for an open seat being vacated by a Republican, in a race that will take the kind of effort she's putting forth to flip the seat blue. Erin brings a diverse background to her race, having lived and worked around the country: she's a teacher who taught creative writing and helped administer arts appreciation contests, including creating a model for a bilingual poetry contest that now serves several Arizona high schools; an environmental leader, who helped pioneer a stewardship contracting program while working at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; and a community activist, who spent much of 2017 demonstrating and testifying in Austin on issues ranging from preventing sexual violence to protecting local environmental regulations and promoting fair redistricting. Erin impressed us with her command of the issues, knowledge of her district, and determination to win, and we're thrilled to stand with her in her first bid for public office.
